How does our Organically Driven Mosquito Barrier Spray Treatment Work?
Trained Tidewater Mosquito Control technicians will safely apply only EPA approved products in an organic barrier spray to your trees, shrubs, bushes, tall grass, under decks, in damp dark places where mosquitoes may hide every 18 – 23 days. These applications not only kill adult mosquitoes, ticks and fleas on contact but continue to repel for weeks of outdoor enjoyment.
In addition to managing your adult mosquito population our Tidewater Mosquito Control technician will inspect your entire property for standing water that may harbor larvae during our backyard mosquito spraying services in Northeast Mass and the greater Nashua / Haverhill, NH region. They will leave recommendations, in writing, on how to eliminate this on-going threat.

Only if you want to be. We will not be entering your home, only the yard and surrounding areas. Please make sure at least one gate is unlocked so we can access your entire backyard. If you have outside pets, they need to be inside for the duration of the treatment and for 30 minutes afterwards. Once the yard is dry they can enjoy it again without worrying about those biting pests or tracking remnants around. How Long Does it Last?
We only have to do one spray every three weeks to keep the mosquitoes away all spring and summer. Our pesticides have a fantastic residual effect that keeps the mosquitoes away for weeks at a time. Some people prefer to do treatments every two weeks for premium protection from mosquitoes to give absolutely no time for them to come back during the worst months.
How Long Does It Take?
Most applications take only 30 minutes or less, but if you have a larger yard it may take a little longer. We work fast but never sacrifice quality for speed. Once we are done spraying all you need to do is wait half an hour for the treatment to dry and then you can enjoy it once more.
Can My Children Play in the Yard During the Treatment?
When treating a yard, we ask that the homeowner and children stay inside for 30 minutes, which allows the product to dry. After that, they are free to enjoy their backyards and other outdoor living spaces. Quite frankly, it is no different from staying off of your lawn for a recommended period of time after a lawn treatment has been applied. We inform each homeowner of this recommendation prior to spraying and if you are not home, we leave a notice alerting you to the time and date we sprayed. Our organically driven mixture is completely safe for children, pets, pollinating insects and more. If you’re a mosquito, tick or flea though, your luck won’t last.
How Safe is Your Product?
As always all products used by Tidewater Mosquito Control are used according to the label and are registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which means the ingredients have been scrutinized and tested for safety for consumer use when applied according to the label. Homeowners utilize our treatments to reduce the risks of contracting vector- borne illness such as West Nile virus and tick-borne illnesses such as Lyme disease, which can both cause lifelong health issues. In addition, Tidewater Mosquito Control has gone the extra mile to use only safe and organically-driven materials with minimum risk pesticides 25(b) in our revolutionary barrier spray to greatly minimize environmental impact on our local ecosystems.
What if it Rains Right After My Treatment was Applied?
Targeted surfaces are the underside of leaves and shaded areas; these tend to be protected from the rain. Additionally, when the product has dried (after about 30 minutes) rain and water do not easily wash away the treatment. If it begins raining before your treatment has dried, and you notice a diminished effectiveness, please call us and we will retreat at no cost to you.
If I Have My Yard Treated and My Neighbor Doesn’t – Will the Treatment Still be Effective?
Yes! Mosquitoes do not respect fences or property lines, but our treatment creates an invisible barrier around your property that makes your yard unattractive to mosquitoes. As you might imagine, a mosquito might wander into your yard and bite you before feeding or resting on the treated surfaces. However, you will find that the presence of mosquitoes is enormously reduced.
Of course it would help greatly to talk to your neighbor about any standing water in their yard. Remember, a wheelbarrow full of water can produce enough mosquitoes to infest a neighborhood. We give a $25 discount for each new referral that signs up as a paying customer.
Will I Know When Tidewater Mosquito Control is Coming?
Yes. We alert you at least 24 hours in advance of a scheduled treatment. That should allow you plenty of time to prepare for our arrival. If there’s any issue, you may call or email us immediately and reschedule.
What Happens to my Mosquito Protection if it Rains Before my Next Service?
The products we use are made to bond to the leaves where we spray, you should not see a difference in your protection. Be on the lookout for standing water in containers and drains though!
When is the Best Time to Get Started?
Tidewater Mosquito Control begins spraying in late April and stops in late October. If you have a problem during that time please feel free to give us a call at 603-229-8818. For maximum effectiveness we suggest you start in the Spring prior to the first outbreak of the mosquito season, usually at least by the first week in May (although this differs from neighborhood to neighborhood). This will not only kill the mosquitoes when they start to hatch it will reduce the amount of eggs being laid in your yard. Of course you can start anytime to “Get Your Yard Back” if you’ve already found it’s in the grasps of little flying blood-suckers.
I Have a Fish Pond will Treatment Effect My Fish?
Tidewater Mosquito Control technicians are trained to carefully treat around the pond to provide protection for your family without harming the investment you have made in your pond and fish. While there’s not a proven link between our organically-driven sprays and harm to fish, we make it a point to avoid any direct spray or run-off to fish ponds. As long as a fish pond is healthy, it is not likely to serve as a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
How Many Applications are in One Particular Mosquito Season?
The season typically (weather depending) is from Mid-April or early May through early October. A full season would consist typically of 10 or 11 treatments. However, we offer prorated seasons for those folks that start with us at different times throughout the year. No contract is required. Pause or reschedule service whenever you wish.
